This past Sunday, Richard and I went hiking at Kielder Water, a lake in Northumberland, nearly 2 hours away from Newcastle. First, we walked up to Sky Scape, an optical illusion built by an artist. Basically, it's a hut with a circular hole in ceiling, which gives the impression that the sky is part of the ceiling. It's truly impressive.

We then walked around Bull Crag peninsula, on the southern end of the lake. It was cold and misty - we were virtually the only ones there. I love exploring England at this time of the year. There aren't any tourists and you can walk around feeling like you're alone in the world - enjoying the quiet and the scenery.
