We spent the last 5 days in Whitby, a wonderful little seaside town, on the North Yorkshire Moor's coast line. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Whitby, it is famous for it's spectacular views of Whitby Abby, the Cleveland Way (a famous hiking trail) and it's blend of beaches and cliffs, perfect for those who love both. It's also famous for it's literary inspirations: Bram Stoker's horror novel Dracula was set in Whitby, and parts of the book are derived from local folklore. The town, like most English cities, has a aura of mystery, a heavy presence of past events, and has been noticeably shaped by countless eras and trends. One of my favourite spots in Whitby was the 'Sherlock Holmes': a romantic, old, quirky and quintessentially English cafe. This is why I love England. It's history, it's quaintness, and it's seaside.
